David Schloss

I’m a technology journalist and content creator who loves making tech easy to understand. As Editor-in-Chief at Imaging Resource, I shape what we cover and dive deep into reviews—mostly cameras and cool new gear. I also run a YouTube channel Dave Tries This, which is focused on creative technology and consumer electronics. Prior to that, I co-founded a PR firm that is the agency of record for Sony’s Alpha camera division.

Throughout my career, I’ve focused on connecting new tech to real life. I’ve contributed to over 30 publications, written several books, served as Editor-in-Chief on three magazines, and am always aiming to help people figure out which innovations are worth their time and money.

About Me

I’m an accomplished professional with over 25 years of experience in editorial and content development, publication management, relationship management, writing, editing, PR management, education, and consulting.

I was Editor-in-Chief at Digital Photo Pro, Digital Photo, and HDVideo Pro magazines (and their digital properties) and Technology Editor at Outdoor Photographer and Photo District News.

I have written two photography books and ghost-written several fitness and exercise books. In my career, I have contributed articles and photography for over 30 publications and outlets in tech, fitness, and lifestyle.

Currently, I am the creator and host of the YouTube review channel Dave Tries This and a contributor to technology and lifestyle publications.

I was also the co-founder and Vice President of Editorial of PixelShift Studio, which is the agency of record for Sony’s Alpha camera division, Xperia smartphone division, and Airpeak drone division. I managed relationships with media, influencers, and creators there, ensuring they had the resources to create accurate and engaging content.

As the Content Development Director at Madavor Media’s photo and video titles, I led the redesign of two of my publications, updated and implemented editorial strategies and policies, and evaluated market trends and customer behaviors to address the changing publishing landscape.

Early in my career, I founded and ran an Apple-supported training, education, and support group for the company’s Aperture photo editing software, MacCreate, which later expanded to support Apple’s iLife and iWork suites. Backed by Apple, at MacCreate, I developed hundreds of tutorial articles and screencasts, created in-person curricula, and taught hands-on classes in ten U.S. cities and three countries.
